Two Brothers. Built on Service.
We’re Matt and Cody — brothers who grew up in our family’s trade business, spent years in different careers, and came back to the trades together to start One Hour of Fullerton. The HVAC company we wished we could have hired ourselves.
Our Story
Our family ran a trade business back in Colorado, so we grew up around skilled work from the start. We learned early what it looked like when a job got done right — and what it looked like when it didn’t.
But after high school, both of us followed paths that took us away from the trades for years.
Matt’s Path: Navy Seabee, then Finance & Operations
When 9/11 happened, Matt enlisted in the Navy as a Seabee — the Naval Construction Force that builds airfields, base infrastructure, roads, and combat positions in active war zones. The Seabee motto is “Can Do.” He served as a deployed combat veteran.
After his Navy years, Matt spent years working in finance and operations — helping companies improve their performance and long-term viability. He learned the discipline of how a business actually runs, scales, and sustains itself over time. Numbers, systems, accountability — the things most contractors are weakest at.
Cody’s Path: Family Trade Business, then Customer Care at Scale
Cody stayed in our family’s trade business in Colorado for years before pivoting into the business world — leading large customer support and customer care teams for cutting-edge tech companies. He spent his career obsessing over the texture of customer experience: the difference between just “handling” a customer and genuinely caring about the outcome. How you build trust at scale. How you train a team to actually own the customer’s problem.
Why We Came Back
Different paths, different industries, different lessons learned. But our family roots in the trades never went away. And during those years, we were also customers ourselves — hiring contractors for our own homes, watching the same patterns play out every time. Vague pricing. Missed appointments. Surprise charges at the end. Technicians who couldn’t (or wouldn’t) explain what they were doing or why.
We kept thinking the same thing: we know the trades. We know how a real business runs. We know what genuine customer care looks like. Why is no one in HVAC actually doing this right?
So in 2024, we came back to the trades — together — to build the HVAC company we wished we’d been able to hire. One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Fullerton. Show up when we said we would. Tell the customer the truth. Do the work right the first time. Family roots, military discipline, business operations rigor, and customer care that doesn’t end when the technician leaves your driveway. That’s the bar we set, and we hold ourselves to it every day.
Why We Affiliated With One Hour®
Plenty of independent HVAC companies do great work. We also know plenty that overpromise, undertrain, or cut corners. When we looked at how to build a business that customers could trust from day one, the One Hour® brand gave us a structure that aligned with the standards we’d already set for ourselves:
- On-time guarantee. If we’re late, your service is free. No excuses.
- Two-year satisfaction guarantee. If you’re not happy, we make it right.
- Technician training standards. Real ongoing certifications, not just hiring whoever’s available.
- Equipment and financing access. Better pricing and options for our customers because of the scale.
That structure works for us. But it’s the structure, not the substance. The substance is the brothers, the team, and the work.
What We Stand For
Our backgrounds — family trades, the Navy, business operations, customer care at scale — all converged into a clear set of values for how this business runs.
Service before self
Matt learned this in the Navy. We built the business around it. Your problem comes before our convenience. Our customers come before our schedule.
Customer care that doesn’t end at the truck door
Cody spent his career leading customer care teams at scale. The discipline of “did we actually solve the customer’s problem” follows him to every job we do.
Operational rigor
Matt’s finance and operations background means we run this like a real business — clean numbers, clear systems, no improvisation when it comes to accountability.
Honest answers, always
We’ll tell you when a repair makes sense and when it doesn’t. We won’t oversell you a new system if your current one has years of life left. If we’re not sure, we’ll say so.
Straightforward pricing
You get the price before we start the work — not after. No surprise charges, no “while we were in there” upcharges, no vague estimates.
Long-term relationships
We’d rather earn your next ten years of business than make an extra dollar today. The maintenance club, the warranty work, the referrals — that’s how we want to grow.
Our Team
Beyond the two of us, we’ve assembled a small team of technicians who share the standards we set out with. Everyone on our team is background-checked, drug-tested, and trained to the standards required by the One Hour® brand. More importantly, they’re people we trust in our own homes — because that’s the bar we set for sending them into yours.
