Veteran-Owned HVAC in Fullerton

Built by a Navy Seabee. Run by Brothers. Operated for Fullerton.

One Hour of Fullerton is a veteran-owned, family-operated HVAC company in Fullerton, CA — co-owned and run by brothers Matt and Cody. Matt brings the Navy Seabee combat experience and operations background. Cody brings the trade craft and customer-care discipline. Together they bring the standards their family raised them with.

Matt, co-owner and Navy Seabee combat veteran, One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Fullerton

I’m Matt. I served, then I built a career, then I came back to the trades.

I joined the U.S. Navy as a Seabee — the Naval Construction Force. Seabees are the Navy’s builders. We construct airfields, base infrastructure, roads, housing, fuel storage, and forward operating positions, often in combat zones and forward-deployed locations. The Seabee motto is “Can Do.” It’s not aspirational. It’s a job description.

As a deployed combat veteran, I worked construction projects in environments where the wrong day’s work could mean the wrong day for a lot of people. You learn fast that showing up matters, doing the work right matters, and standing by what you built matters.

After my Navy years, I spent time in finance and operations — working with companies to make their businesses run better, scale better, sustain themselves longer. Different uniform, same principles: standards aren’t optional, the team is the work, accountability is non-negotiable.

My brother Cody worked in our family’s trade business in Colorado for years before pivoting into business — leading customer care and support teams for cutting-edge tech companies. Different industry, same obsession with doing right by the customer.

When the two of us decided to come back to the trades together in 2024 and start One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning of Fullerton, I brought the Navy and the operations work with me. Cody brought the trades and the customer care discipline. Both of us brought the standards of being raised in a family that took pride in skilled work.

Seabees show up. They build what needs building. They don’t quit until it’s done. That’s exactly what we brought home with us. — Matt, Co-Owner • U.S. Navy Seabee Combat Veteran

What’s a Seabee, exactly?

“Construimus, Batuimus” — We Build, We Fight.

U.S. Navy Seabees are the Naval Construction Force. They include carpenters, builders, electricians, plumbers, equipment operators, steelworkers, and engineering aids. Since World War II, Seabees have built airfields, bases, schools, roads, hospitals, and infrastructure in over 100 countries — including in active combat zones. The connection between Seabee training and HVAC contracting isn’t a marketing angle; it’s a direct continuation. The trades are the trades.

Our Partnership

Veteran-owned doesn’t mean solo-owned. One Hour of Fullerton is a true 50/50 partnership between two brothers who bring different — and complementary — backgrounds to the same business.

Matt’s military service is what makes this a veteran-owned business. But the way we run this company is shaped equally by what both of us bring to the table.

Co-Owner

Matt

U.S. Navy Seabee combat veteran. Post-Navy career in finance and operations — improving how businesses run, scale, and sustain themselves. Brings the discipline of military service and the rigor of operations management to how we run the day-to-day.

Co-Owner

Cody

Family trade background from Colorado, followed by years leading large customer care and support teams at cutting-edge tech companies. Brings the trade craftsmanship and the obsession with genuine customer experience that defines how we treat every interaction.

The combination matters. Military discipline without customer care produces cold service. Customer care without operational rigor produces unreliable promises. Trade craft without business management produces a struggling shop. We’ve intentionally built this business around all three.

The Standards We Built Into This Business

The values that shape One Hour of Fullerton come from both brothers’ backgrounds. Matt brought lessons from military service and operations work. Cody brought lessons from the trades and customer care leadership. Together, these are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Mission first

Matt’s Navy background framed it this way. Cody’s customer care background reinforced it: your problem is our mission. Whether it’s an emergency at midnight or a planned replacement six months out, we treat the work like it matters — because it does.

Accountability is non-negotiable

If we said we’d be there at 9, we’re there at 9. If something goes wrong, we own it and fix it. Whether the lesson came from the Navy or from leading customer care teams, the principle is the same: we don’t pass blame and we don’t hide behind a call center.

Standards aren’t optional

Quality standards in the Navy weren’t “if you feel like it” standards. Quality standards in a serious trade business aren’t either. Every job, every install, every repair — we hold the line because both of us were trained to.

The team is the work

Nobody operates alone. Our techs are trained, certified, and held to the same standards we hold ourselves. Cody’s experience leading customer teams shaped how we hire and train; Matt’s experience leading Seabees shaped how we hold the standard.
